Former student charged
Former Truman Student Jonathan Omvig, 24, was arrested Saturday and charged with 2nd degree domestic assault and unlawful use of a weapon.
Omvig was fighting with his roommate about property in the kitchen, according to the probable cause statement, when Omvig repeatedly threw his roommate on the ground.
After Omvig threw his roommate on the ground “several times,” Omvig took a large kitchen knife from a kitchen drawer and threatened her saying, “If you don’t move, I will slit your throat, stab you and watch you bleed to death on the kitchen floor,” according to the probable cause statement.
When the police arrived on the scene, Omvig admitted to throwing his roommate on the ground and grabbing the knife from the drawer but denied threatening his roommate.
Omvig was released on bond Monday afternoon. His initial arraignment is scheduled for today at 9 a.m, according to Missouri Casenet.
